What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading The Nightingale (physical copy) and on my Kindle I’m rereading The Early Years at Malory Towers (Books 1-3). I’m really enjoying The Nightingale so far. I think I’m going to be totally in love with it by the end. Two strong female protagonists and such beautiful writing means I am totally sold already. I can’t wait to see how this turns out. I am thoroughly enjoying my reread of the Malory Towers series by Enid Blyton. Again, I’m rereading as part of a monthly challenge on Goodreads and I thought there was no better place than to go back to the books I loved so dearly as a child. I am surprised at how much of these I remember, but I must have read them a million times. I was obsessed with going to Malory Towers and being friends with Darrell, Sally and girls. They are a really quick read, I’m on the third book already!
What did you recently finish reading?
This week I finished reading both Child 44 and Bridget Jones’s Diary. I really enjoyed both although I do think that both had small flaws. I really liked the action and mystery side of Child 44 and also seeing the relationship between Leo and Raisa. On the other hand, I personally wanted more focus on the child murders at the beginning of the book rather than lots of information that was not relevant later on. I liked Bridget Jones, I think she’s one of the most relatable fictional characters I’ve come across. The book was funny and perfect for a light-hearted read but I still prefer the film. Both reviews are already up on the blog if you want to check them out.
I also finished my reread of Holes. One of the monthly challenges on the group I am active in on Goodreads is to reread books from our past. I chose Holes as I felt my initial reading experience was slightly ruined by spending way too many hours studying this in school with a teacher who did not inspire me. On my reread, I was delighted to find so many aspects of this brilliant novel to praise. It really is a great read and I’m glad I chose to reread.
What do you think you’ll read next?
My tbr is getting so out of hand. Just this morning I added about 6 new books to my list (woops!). I finally bought a copy of Six of Crows this morning and I’ve been looking forward to reading that, so that could well be next. I also have a bunch of arcs and I’m determined to get at least two of them read and reviewed by the end of the month. My copy of The Night Circus has also been eyeing me up from the bookshelf too…
What have you been reading this week? Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned? What do you recommend I read next?
Feel free to follow me on Twitter and Goodreads. Comments are always warmly welcome.

Read Six if Crows first! Even though The Night Circus is amazing as well. Um.. I have The Nightingale on my TBR for too long now. Maybe I’ll pick it up soon. 🙂

The Night Circus is a strange one, some love it, some disliked it, I sat on the fence really. The whole magical realism thing doesn’t really float my boat but it is a well written book with a gorgeous cover.

The Nightingale sounds phenomenal. Ooh, I’ve never heard of the Malory Towers books. Those look interesting! I never read Holes, but it sounds interesting. It’s always nice to re-read books from the past. It seems you either become disenchanted or like it more than you remembered. Six of Crows and The Night Circus are also waiting for me on my shelf. Did you get the hardcover or paperback of Six of Crows? I’m in love with the book design for the hardcover!

I was obsessed with the Malory Towers books when I was about 9 years old. I so desperately wanted to go to school there!
I’m finding it tough deciding what will come next: Six of Crows or The Night Circus? I bought the paperback as it was the only copy I’ve been able to locate in both the main bookshops where I live! I’m a sucker for a gorgeous cover though so it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t buy the hardback in future 😉

That’s cool. I could use a light read. I’ll check my library for them. Personally, I’m planning to read Six of Crows first, but that’s totally up to you! How weird. My bookshop only had the hardback. You totally should. It’s one of those books that just makes me so happy to look at and hold in my hands. Lol. 🙂

The Nightingale was so good! If you already like it, then you’ll love the end. It took me a bit to get into. Your read nexts are awesome, too. I loved both of those.

I’ve heard such good things about The Nightingale and it’s not disappointing me so far. I really like the writing style.
I think it’s going to be tough to pick which goes first out of the next two!

The Nightingale was perfection. I’m pretty sure it was easily my favorite book of 2015. I ugly cried sooooo hard at the end!
I keep saying I’ll read Bridget Jones because the film is one of my all time favorites but I just have never gotten around to it. Maybe sometime in the next ten years when I finish my TBR pile I’ll get around to it haha.

Oh dear, that means I’ll probably cry – it doesn’t take much!! I’ve only read the first 100 pages or so but I’m in love with the writing style and characters already.
Haha, that mysterious future where a tbr pile is finished!! I don’t think I’ll ever see that day!

I loved Enid Blyton, although I’m not sure I read the Malory Towers books. I remember The Famous Five, Secret Seven and Magic Faraway Tree books though.
My TBR is mad. I feel like I add 3 books for every 1 I read 😦
If you have to choose between The Night Circus and Six of Crows, go for SoC. The Night Circus is beautifully written, but SoC is far more entertaining and fun.

I loved all those Enid Blyton books too. I remember my parents buying me all of the Famous Five books and I was in my element!
I’m the same with my tbr. There are constantly great books being released/reviewed though and I need to read them all.
Ah great, thanks for the suggestion there as I wasn’t sure how I would pick between the two! 🙂
