Hi everyone, I’m back with a wrap up post about the wonderful readathon hosted by my friend Rachel last week! If you remember correctly (or if not, check my TBR) I said I would try to read 4 books and finish Strange the Dreamer which I was halfway through!
I didn’t quite make 4 books but I did come close which I was super pleased with considering I was away for the whole readathon! Check out the books I read below and a quick overview of my thoughts!
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Pages read: 276 (no. of pages I had left)
Unlike most people this was my first time reading a Laini Taylor book and I was not really sure what to expect. I ended up really loving this book. It is LONG and I had to concentrate really hard on it to make sure I was taking everything in but the writing was totally captivating and I loved the characters. It was a really mysterious and magical read which left my heart shattered in pieces at the end! My rating: ★★★★★
The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
Pages read: 228
I had heard a lot about this little treasure on Twitter and especially from my lovely friend Steph who urged me to read this. I picked it up on my flight and absolutely devoured it. This book is a real diamond. It’s packed full of adventure, wonderful characters and fantastic writing. A very quick read but definitely a magical tale of strength and love. My rating: ★★★★★
Tree Magic by Harriet Springbett
Pages read: 443
I had been meaning to pick this book up for quite a long time and I’m glad I finally did. I enjoyed reading this although it was very different to what I expected. It had much more depth and was a really intricately told coming of age story. It is a very long book and Harriet herself describes this as a slow burn novel but it all comes together in a meaningful and wonderful ending. My rating: ★★★★
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
Pages read: 288
I LOVED this book so much. I have fallen head over heels in love with this book and its characters. This book is so incredibly diverse with two main characters giving their POVs: Tay suffers with anxiety and ASD and Charlie is our bisexual famous YouTuber. The fan girl in me went wild reading this book, it’s really wonderfully written and warmed my heart from start to finish. My rating: ★★★★★
Total Books: 3.5 (1/2 for Strange the Dreamer!)
Total Pages: 1,236
All in all I had a great time completing this readathon and I hope you did too, if you were taking part. I’m already looking forward to the next one – no pressure Rachel! It definitely motivated me to get on top of my reading and I enjoyed taking part with such a great group of readers on Twitter. Reviews for the books I read will be up over the next week or so as I get my act back together now I’ve returned from NYC. Hope you’re having a great week!

It’s a long read and may not be to everyone’s taste but I enjoyed the way Harriet wrote her characters and their development was fantastically written. I’d love to hear what you think when you’ve read it!
