Hi everyone! This post may be slightly out of date by now as I’m writing and scheduling this on Thursday this week! As you’re reading this I am currently living my best Harry Potter life in London! Friday was the Harry Potter studio tour and Saturday was FINALLY Cursed Child day!! There will be much more about that in the next week!

At the time of writing this I’ve read three books this week (already!). A real mix this week with two middle grade novels and one young adult. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with the hilarious Who Let the Gods Out? by Maz Evans – keep an eye out for my review beginning of next week! Next up was the well overdue The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood. This book didn’t quite live up to what I wanted it to be and the Science-y bits were too much for me. We’ll be discussing this in the #SundayYA book club next Sunday if you fancy joining us at 6pm! Next up was a book I received for a blog tour, Spy Toys by Mark Powers. This was a super quick read and I loved the illustrations! I’m not sure what is next up for reading so it will be a surprise to us all!

I have been exceptionally well behaved this week! I even went on a bookish trip to Bristol to see my lovely Rosie and I still only bought one book! I had to buy this book as Rosie read it recently and fell in love with it so I bought it on her recommendation!

I was SUPER excited to receive a proof of this rather beautiful looking book (and this is just the proof!!). I’ve heard so much about The Extinction Trials by Susan Wilson already and it’s being marketed as Jurassic Park meets The Hunger Games – YES PLEASE!! Huge thanks to the lovely Stevie at Usborne for sending me this. I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot about this one from me!

Who Let the Gods Out? by Maz Evans is a book I never knew I needed in my life so much. It is hilarious yet touching and heartfelt. Full of adventure, quirky characters and based on Greek mythology, this book kept me entertained from beginning to end – I can’t even imagine its affect on young readers. Elliot is a character I couldn’t help but care for, as well as the fantastic adventure in the book, there are some really emotional moments too. I already have my copy of the sequel to devour soon! Brilliant!

I’ve had had a lovely week so far! Monday was a Bristol adventure with my gorgeous bookish friend Rosie. We had so much fun and a lot of firsts too! We started with a coffee and little gift exchange, then onto Foyles and Waterstones before going for tea in a coffee where we sat on swings (actual, real swings!!), then we went to some independent book stores, had lunch, went to Oxfam books and then Rosie treated me to my first ever bubble tea experience. I am one very lucky lady!

This week has also been the first of the big results days. I was happy with the results my own students achieved and hope that anyone reading this who also received results this week got what they wanted/needed. But if you didn’t, you will find you way, there are so many other paths to take too. Don’t ever give up!

As you’re reading this, I am somewhere in London having had a very Potter weekend! But earlier in the week I treated myself to some rather fantastic Potter merchandise from the new range in Primark (Pree-mark, as I would say!) and I am just in love with all of it! Can you tell which house I am?
