Sunday Summary 17.09.2017

Hi everyone! It has been a slow reading week as work has truly taken over my life (as expected) and I’ve either been doing work in the evenings or too tired to focus on reading! I’ve had a great reading Saturday to make up for it though.

bookish-updates

Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicle, #2)  Cold Blood (Detective Erika Foster, #5)

Without a doubt Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff has been one of my most highly anticipated releases of 2017 and it did not disappoint. This book is just as bloody, dark and revenge-filled as Nevernight was. Mia Corvere is an absolute badass and this book took everything I loved about the first one and took it all up a notch. Incredible! As I’m writing this I’m currently about two thirds of the way through Cold Blood by Robert Bryndza which is the fifth book in the Detective Erika Foster. I’m absolutely loving it so far and intrigued to see where it will go! I don’t anticipate it taking long to finish!

My book ban is going STRONG!! I’ve received one book this week as well as my OwlCrate, but I’m not going to tsay which book was in my OwlCrate for fearing of spoiling it for others!

And here is the book I received! The lovely Sarah from Penguin sent me a copy of Warcross by Marie Lu. This book is GORGEOUS and I love the rainbow on the hard cover under the dust jacket. I’ve only heard brilliant things about this book so I’m looking forward to reading it soon!

book-of-the-week

Absolutely no doubt in my mind about this Book of the Week! Godsgrave is such an incredible sequel to Nevernight. It didn’t at all feel like a middle book in a trilogy. It was filled with blood, murder, darkness and revenge from the very first few pages right up until the last word. I loved being reunited with Mia ‘the badass’ Corvere and her shadow friend Mr Kindly. I’m so overwhelmed with my love for this book right now that I just can’t describe my feelings for it! Look out for my review soon!

Last week I told you all I was going on a back-to-work diet and in my first week I lost 3.5lbs so I’m really happy with that! Healthy eating has gone fairly well this week but I did eat out for my brother and sister’s birthday on Thursday evening! But we all deserve a treat, right?

I’ve taken a different approach to my work ethic this year and I’m trying to keep myself 2 weeks ahead in terms of planning. It’s going well so far and I feel much more relaxed as if I’m super tired after work I’m under no pressure to get anything done for the next day. It’s the little things that help!

Earlier this week I was featured alongside some other bullet journalers in this fantastic article! It was a real honour to be involved and to even be asked!

Have a wonderful week! ❤

  1. Glad you’ve had a nice week even though you’ve been busy at work 😊

This week, I’ve read Defender of the Realm: Dark Age by Mark Huckerby and Worry Angels by Sita Brahmachari and reread the fabulous Mystery and Mayhem anthology. I’m now almost finished the Taken by Inbali Iserles.

On the blog, I’ve taken part in 2 blog tours (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/11/blog-tour-review-prisoner-of-ice-and-snow-by-ruth-lauren/ and https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/14/blog-tour-firelines-by-cara-thurlbourn-spotlight/), wrote a post about childhood favourites for Top Ten Tuesday (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/12/top-ten-tuesday-my-favourite-childhood-booksseries/) and then yesterday I wrote about Disney movies I’ve not watched (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/16/5-disney-films-i-havent-seen-yet-but-want-to/)

Hope you’re having a great weekend
