Even though I don’t usually read horror, I’m really tempted by Alice and The Butterfly Garden. Great list!

I loooove The Butterfly Garden. Its sequel was pretty good, too! The Roanoke Girls was another one I really enjoyed, though it wasn’t as creepy as I expected it to be – moreso just very disturbing.

I’ve heard brilliant things about The Butterfly Garden and a lot of mixed reviews of The Roanoke Girls so it will be interesting to see what I make of them.

I’ll definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts! I think most of my friends have hated The Roanoke Girls, which I can understand, because it felt like a polarizing read even as I was reading it, but man, I 5-starred that so hard 😂😂😂
(Also, I think in another comment I was all “I’ll check out your list!” but I totally had already sooo disregard that 😂)

Haha that’s okay!!
Yes I’ve heard VERY polarising opinions of TRG so I’m keen to see what I make of it!

Hi Kelly, what a great Halloween inspired list! I haven’t read any of these either but… The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and The Butterfly Garden are both on my TBR… I heard both are fantastic!

I’m absolutely awful with scary/creepy reads, so not sure if I’ll read any of these, although they do sound intruding! I’ve heard so much about My Best Friend’s Exorcism and also Alice (which is the one I’m most interested in) though, so may have a look at them.

I’m not much for these types of books, but there are a couple on here I want to read. I have that Mara Dyer book. I just need to pick it up.

Same! I have the whole trilogy on my shelf and still haven’t read them! Whoops!

My favourite Halloween books are more the magical fantasy kind of type, I’m really afraid of anything horror! You’re much braver than I’m that’s for sure! 😂

I don’t read a lot of horror books but this month I did squeeze in a few and did actually quite like them. Not sure I’ll ever be brave enough for ‘IT’ though!

Alice was so good, very dark and perfect for a scary read. I highly recommend it!

Ooh that’s good to hear. Have you read the sequel too? I have them both but as all bookworms know, time just isn’t enough!

What a scary bunch! 😱😱
I loved the Disappearances though. I love magical realism, and barely ever see it 😊

I also love magical realism, I may get to The Disappearances this month as I’m hoping to cut down my NetGalley pile!

Great list! I have had The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer on my TBR for awhile now and same with The Child Thief! I just read My Best Friend’s Exorcism this month and it was such a great book! Definitely a creepy perfect book for this time of the year.

Ooh I’ll have to keep that one in mind for next year’s Halloween read! I really must read the Mara Dyer trilogy at some point, it’s been sat on my shelf for too long!

I read The Roanoke Girls earlier this year and I thought it was amazing. I am currently reading well listening to It on audiobook.

The Butterfly Garden and The Roanoke Girls are fantastic, so I hope you enjoy those! ❤️ I’ve had Ragdoll and IT on my TBR for so long now, and I’m pretty sure I’d love them if I just read them already! 😂
