N.E.W.Ts Readathon TBR!

NEWTS.png

Hi everyone! After a bit of ‘um’ing and ‘ah’ing, I’ve decided that I am going to take my NEWTs this August. I originally thought about delaying this until September as I wanted to be able to mood read but I have some plans up my sleeve for September so I thought there was no time like the present to get my NEWTs done.

I absolutely loved doing the OWLS readathon which I did in July. I managed to surpass my target of 5 books and read 6 that were for the readathon which I’m pleased with as I now have more options for the NEWTs.

The NEWTs readathon is being hosted once again by the wonderful Booktuber Book Roast, I still can’t believe how incredible these readathons are – so much thoguht has gone into them and it’s great to see so many people taking part too. The idea of the NEWTs is to take those subjects we passed at OWL level up a notch and move onto our NEWTs. If you completed the OWLs, you are only able to do NEWTs in the subejcts you passed. This time there are layers to each subject with Acceptable, Exceeds Expectations and Outstanding. You have to start on the prompt for A and then move up to E and O once you have completed the first prompts. I love this extra layer as it adds more of a challenge. You can find out more of the details by watching this video which also includes a link to the prompts for all available subjects – it’s never too late to join!

I have 6 subjects to choose from but I definitely don’t plan on reading 18 books for this readathon! I’ll leave my goals list at the bottom of this TBR.

I also passed OWLs in Divination and Care of Magical Creatures but I don’t plan to complete these at NEWT level. I have, however, thought of some book ideas if I do happen to end up doing them fully or partially. The four subjects above will be my priority though…

goals

So there we have the full TBR! I am under no illusion that I will read all of these so I’ve set out some goals below that I would like to achieve for this readathon. Hopefully I can do all of this but if I don’t, it really won’t be the end of the world as long as I enjoy what I read. (A good time to point out that all books are subject to change…)

  • Potions: Outstanding (3 books)
  • Defence Against the Dark Arts: Exceeds Expectations (2 books)
  • Charms: Outstanding (3 books)
  • Transfiguration: Outstanding (3 books)

To achieve this I’ll need to read 11 books which seems manageable. I’ve also included a good mix of backlist, new releases and arcs/Netgalley books. Wish me luck!

  4. I adored Seed, Beyond the Odyssey and Unboxed when I read them, and have the Friendship Fails of Emma Nash, Bookshop Girl and the Astonishing Colour of After on my TBR. I’m looking forward to getting to them all 😊

    • I also didn’t think about the length of books and my second book is 672 pages long – think it’s the longest on my TBR though so if I can get through this one I can get through anything! (That’s what I’m telling myself anyway…) Good luck!

  5. Oh this challenge sounds like so much fun! I love your TBR as well… So do they do this challenge every month? I want to give it a try, but I don’t think I’ll be able to do so this month. Good luck with your N.E.W.T.s!
