My Rating: ★★★★★

I have seen this film twice this week and I can’t help but fall head over heels in love with it. I’ve always been a sucker for any films Nancy Meyers has written or directed, I just love the feel-good and carefree aspect of her films.

The Intern follows the story of 70 year old Ben (Robert De Niro) who becomes a Senior Intern at an online shopping company founded by Jules (Anne Hathaway). The concept of this film was enough for me to know that I would have a goofy smile on my face for the duration. However, I wasn’t expecting to fall SO in love with De Niro’s character. Ben is the perfect display of a gentleman and the friendship he builds with his boss Jules is exactly the kind of friendship everyone dreams of. They become much more than just colleagues, even Jules herself refers to the 70 year old as her best friend.

I laughed and, on several occasions, I almost cried. I watched this film with my sister and she also fell in love with it. I think it’s going to be one of my all time go-to movies when I need something light-hearted. I can promise that anyone watching this will finish it with a goofy smile and a happy heart.
