Here we are at the end of another week. The Sunday night blues are kicking in as another busy week at work is on the cards, but on reflection it’s been a good week.
Books of the Week
Since last week’s post, I have finished The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly, The Bell Jar and Under Milk Wood, taking me to 8/60. I can’t put into writing how much I loved The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly, it was saved straight onto my favourites shelf on Goodreads. It was an exciting, complex and emotional read that I would recommend to anyone. I have just finished writing my review of The Bell Jar, looking back, I can’t believe how much this novel has affected me. After reading the book, I read up on Sylvia Plath and I felt myself feeling beyond distraught. This book is so important and as much as it shocked me, it forced me to recognise those times in my life where I also felt empty. I think this is a book I will revisit throughout various periods of my life.
Films of the Week
As you can see from above, I have read 3 books in the last week and, with work keeping me busy and the Golden Globes, I’ve only had time for one movie, but I made it a precious one. After the passing of the beloved Alan Rickman this week, my brother and I thought it was only fitting that we watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in his honour. Alan was truly one in a million, his kindness and dedication to his craft is something that cannot be replaced. I will miss you dearly, Alan, always.
TV of the Week
For anyone who has checked out my watch-list, you’ll know I have a fairly long list of shows that I watch. Due to being busy in the week, the weekend is my dedicated ‘TV-catch-up’ time. This week I had the following shows to catch up on:
- American Horror Story: Hotel (S05e12) – Season Finale!
- Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (S02e05 & 07)
- New Girl (S05E02)
- Modern Family (So7e10 & 11)
- The Good Wife (S07E11)
- Pretty Little Liars (S06E11)
Welcome back to my favourite, The Good Wife! I missed Alicia and the constant drama that follows her everywhere. This episode was everything that I love about the show and I thought Julianna Margulies was fantastic. I also welcomed back Pretty Little Liars for Season 6b. After discovering ‘A’s real identity at the end of 6a I wasn’t sure what to expect of this episode, but as per the usual in Rosewood, we have another murder to solve!
