Hi everyone! I’ve had a great week and I hope that you have too! Lots to share this week as I’ve had the week off and hauled some books during my trip to London!

 Despite having a week off I didn’t actually read a huge amount. Although that being said, A Conjuring of Light is a BIG book! I finished it this afternoon and I LOVED every delicious, bloody second of it. V.E. Schwab is an absolute genius and this trilogy will always be one of my favourites. If you like fantasy and haven’t read these books yet, please do! My rambling review will be up tomorrow. I also started a new audiobook today which is Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I’ve been meaning to read this for a while and although I have a paperback I really fancied this one as an audiobook.

If you follow me on Twitter (which you should!) then you’ll have already had a glimpse at my London book haul. I visited my favourite bookshops whilst I was there and managed to pick up some (too many) books.

I accidentally fell into the wonderful Waterstones Piccadilly on two separate occasions during my trip and both times ended up with books in my bag and a lighter purse. These are a mix of books I have already read and some that I am yet to read. I also have a little tradition when i’m in Waterstones Piccadilly of adding a Jane Austen to my collection. Next stop was one of my favourite little bookshops in London which is Oxfam Bookshop Bloomsbury. This shop is full of hidden treasures and I picked up some AMAZING YA titles!! Replica (hard cover), This Beats Perfect, History Is All You Left Me (proof copy), Fangirl (read) and a proof of my favourite Wing Jones to add to my collection!

In Foyles I picked up a copy of Lying About Last Summer which is a YA thriller/mystery that I have heard some acmazing thigns about. When I got home from London I also happened across some book post from the lovely people at My Kinda Book who sent me a proof of Who Runs the World? by Virginia Bergin.

I also got approved from some FAB titles on Netgalley but I have so many there now that I am too ashamed to say just how many are awaiting my attention….

It absolutely has to be this beauty of a book, A Conjuring of Light by the incredible V. E. Schwab. Honestly one of the best trilogies I have ever read and this final book did not disappoint me at all. Packed with action from beginning to end it was a true rollercoaster of emotion! If you follow me on Twitter you will have seen that a posted a thread of strong feelings earlier today with regards to the recent articles that are surfacing accusing Zoella and her book club of being responsible for the decline in young people’s literacy skills. As someone who teaches in a secondary school, I know that Zoella’s book club choices have had a hugely positive impact on teenagers where I work. So many of them look up to Zoella as a role model and have picked up books because of her and I think it is incredibly damaging for articles such as the ones I have seen to be written. Zoella deserves nothing but praise and respect for being such an excellent role model to young people. If you want to check out what else I had to see, check my thread on Twitter.

In much happier news, I had a really lovely time in London and at the event with Stephanie Garber and Katherine Webber. It was lovely to meet Stephanie and get my copies of Caraval signed and it was lush to see Katie again after meeting her in Cardiff back in January. Both are super lovely and it reminded me so much of why I want to attend more bookish events in 2017.

I also went to see Hidden Figures this week with my family and it really blew me away. It’s such an incredible movie and I already want to see it again. I definitely plan on reading the book soon.
