Hi everyone! After this weekend I am finally starting to feel myself again. The last few weeks has been so busy and it was taking its toll. After a relaxing weekend I am finally caught up in my journal and feeling more like reading. Yay!
Yesterday I finally finished reading The Handmaid’s Tale and I have to say that I was left rather speechless. I didn’t expect to have so many feelings about this book. It’s really excellent but I was completely terrified at the same time. I’m also almost finished with my eARC of Doing It by Hannah Witton. I don’t read a huge amount of non-fiction but this book is fantastic! It will be so valuable to many young people out there.
I received a copy of Follow Me Back by Nicci Cloke from my lovely friend Rachel this week. I’ve been eyeing this up since I saw Nicci in YAShot in 2016 and when she had a copy going I had to grab it!
I treated myself to these gorgeous titles this week too! It’s been a while since I actually bought myself some books and I couldn’t resist these! Can’t wait to get stuck in!
Progress is being made little by little! Every little counts and all that!
- Goodreads Challenge: 27/100
- Let’s Turn Pages: 9,109/38,000 pages
- British Books Challenge: 8/12
- 2017 Beat the Backlist Challenge: 6/40
- #DiversityBingo2017: 2/36
It may be the only book that I completed this week but it’s also a book that I feel has had quite a profound effect on me. It is easy to see why so many feel this book is what encouraged their feminism. This book terrified me in ways I cannot describe but I would urge as many people as possible to read this. I’m looking forward to seeing how the upcoming television adaptation will turn out!
A quiet week on the blog! Next week will be busier!
It is now less than two weeks until my New York adventure and I am so excited. If you follow me on Twitter you may get fed up of this – sorry in advance!
During April the Very Arc-ish Readathon is taking place. I desperately need to work my way through some of my arcs, especially my NetGalley books. My TBR for the challenge will be up tomorrow! Let me know if you’re also taking part!
Have a wonderful week!

I really need to pick The Handmaid’s Tale back up, I put it down after the first few pages.
You bought some fab books 🙂

I’ve put off reading The Handmaid’s Tale because of how uncomfortable I think it’s going to make me, but I suppose that’s what happens when someone writes a difficult topic well!

There are certainly parts that made me VERY uncomfortable and rather infuriated but it was a good read.
