Hi everyone! Today I’m back with the next instalment of my Fandom Frenzy blog series. Today we have a guest post from the lovely Amy @ YA Under My Skin who tells us more about why she would like to live in one of Anna-Marie McLemore’s fictional worlds!
I’ve had to think long and hard about which fictional world I would want to live in. Let’s face it – if I ended up in a world like in The Gallows’ Dance I’d be dead in under a minute (or hide for 300 pages).
That means horror, dystopian worlds and most sci-fi and fantasy worlds are out. Fortunately, the world I’ve chosen fits into none of these categories. If I could go into any world, it would be any of the worlds created by Anna-Marie McLemore. The Weight of Feathers, When the Moon was Ours or Wild Beauty would all be amazing worlds and there are a lot of reasons for that decision.
Anna-Marie McLemore’s writing is so beautiful that I feel like one of her worlds would be a delight for the senses. Even her descriptions of food make me hungry, and the places are also a riot of colour and sounds.
I also like the fact that her characters’ lives seem quite free of technology. They’re not staring at screens all day, and as much as I love my blogging and social media, a break would be nice!
There are strong themes of family and friendship in her worlds too, and they’re certainly things I couldn’t cope without. There might be loss and sacrifice in her stories, but there is always hope above all else.
Finally, I’d like to live in a world where magic is possible.
I am yet to read a book by Anna-Marie McLemore but I do have a gorgeous copy of Wild Beauty and it sounds right up my street! I would definitely love to live in a world where magic was possible!
