Hi everyone! Happy Saturday! As you read this, I am enjoying the wonderful world of YAShot in London (or at least I am if you’re reading this on the Saturday!). The lovely Amy @ Golden Books Girl tagged me in this recently and I thought it was a great chance to ramble a bit about reading!
1. Bookmarks or random pieces of paper?
Bookmarks! Always bookmarks. Of course, if I don’t have a bookmark to hand then any piece of paper will do but I usually have a bookmark with me!
2. Stop reading randomly or after a chapter/certain amount of pages?
ALWAYS at the end of a chapter. I can’t cope with finishing reading in the middle of a chapter because what if I don’t remember what was going on? I’m much better at picking things up when starting from a new chapter.
3. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Not really, although I do most of my reading on my bed. My bed is squished right up in the corner so I get all my cushions plumped, a blanket and make myself a little cosy corner. I’d love to have a proper little reading nook one day!
4. Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
Hm. I don’t really have a straight answer for this? I often will have a cup of tea with me and sometimes I’ll snack but not always.
5. Multitasking: music or TV when reading?
Noooooo. If I’m reading then I just want to fully immerse myself in the book with no other sounds. I have sometimes listened to the Harry Potter soundtrack whilst reading in public to drown out other words. It is also my blogging soundtrack!
6. One book at a time or several?
Generally only one back per format. For example I am currently reading a paperback but I’m also partway through an audiobook. I like having different options in different formats because it means I can pretty much always be reading.
7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I’ll read anywhere and everywhere! I would definitely say that the majority of my reading is done at home but I ALWAYS read on the train to work each morning and I love setting up camp in a coffee shop and having a read too.
8. Reading out loud or silently?
Umm… silently? It’s never occurred to me to read aloud to myself? I guess if I had kids I would read books to them aloud though.
9. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
The majority of my books look like new but that’s not necessarily because I am overly cautious, I just take good care of them naturally I think. Some books have broken spines, some have slightly bent corners but I love that each book tells its own tale both inside and out.
10. Do you write in your books?
Not often! But occasionally I do. Myself and a group of bookish friends send books around in the post that we all annotate as we read and it’s a lot of fun. I don’t tend to do it for myself although I do have notebooks filled with notes on books!
I’m tagging Steph, Rosie, Nicola, Amy and Kate. Also anyone else who fancies this!

I love this post! I used to have an audiobool and a paperback on the go but I kept getting the stories muddled so I swapped to podcasts and one book at a time! X

Its definitely very much an individual taste thing, I’m really into Ru Paul’s drag race right now so I’m loving his podcast what’s the T. I also have been listening to tell em Steve Dave for a few years now and I love it!

Interesting to learn more about your reading habits… I can not end a reading session without having got to the end of a chapter. So far as I’ll check the length on the coming chapter to see if I can fit it in if I know I need to wrap up reading soon. The cosy reading corner you make on your bed sounds lovely.

I do the exact same! If I know I’ve got 10 mins of a train journey left I check how long the next chapter is before committing haha.

This was such a lovely tag! I also usually read mulitple books but in different formats! At the moment i’m reading both a physical book and e-book so it isn’t too hard to keep up with. I also NEED to read in silence so I don’t get distracted lol 🙂
