Well, well, well, didn’t January just fly by? Or is that just me? Either way I can’t quite believe we are already in the second month of 2023 – or that I am still blogging, reading and journalling regularly!
Today’s post is all about the books I read last month, which were my favourites and sharing a couple of goals for February too. Fingers crossed January’s momentum continues!
January Reads
I read 8 books in January which is probably the highest number of books I’ve read in a single month for a long time. There were lots of great reads in here as well as a mix of review copies and some backlist titles.

- The Marvellers by Dhonielle Clayton ★★★★
- Death of a Bookseller by Alice Slater ★★★★
- Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow ★★★★
- Space Blasters: Suzie Saves the Universe by Katie and Kevin Tsang ★★★★
- Promise Boys by Nick Brooks ★★★★
- Six Times We Almost Kissed by Tess Sharpe ★★★★★
- Friday I’m In Love by Camryn Garrett ★★★★
- This Book Kills by Ravena Guron ★★★★★
Lots of great reads in January and I was lucky to read a number of 2023 releases in advance. My favourite book of the month is definitely This Book Kills which is a fantastic murder mystery and also a debut! I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next.
February Goals
I haven’t signed up for any particular challenges for February so maybe there will be some mood reading going on this month. I do have a few arcs I need to read and one of my most highly anticipated reads is being released! Here are a couple of goals for this month:
- Read 6 books.
- Read 3 arcs – NetGalley.
- Read at least 1 backlist book.
What books did you read in January? Do you have any goals for February? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Sounds like you had a great month. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Death of a Bookseller. Is the book you’re anticipating in Feb the next Samantha Shannon beast?

I remember reading the first one when I was off work after an op. I fell asleep reading it and woke up when it hit me in the face 😂

Congrats on such a great reading month. Girl in Pieces is on my TBR. I’ve seen a lot of people say January flew by for them but for me it felt like it was moving at a snails pace. I’m going to be posting my wrap up tomorrow but I did have a great month as well.
