January turned out to be a very productive month for me when it came to reading. I can be quite inconsistent when it comes to the amount I read. I either read 10+ novels or 3/4 in a month. January was a great month for me! Here is a quick reflection.

Number of Pages read: 3,329

I really enjoyed the books I read this month. There weren’t any that I didn’t enjoy, but there were some that I loved more than others.

My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem really opened my eyes to her wonderful life. I was left feeling completely in awe of Gloria and really inspired.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath had been on my tbr for way too long. I am so glad that I finally got around to reading it this month. It is such an important book. I really made me acknowledge some of my own feelings as well as empathise with others around me. I will definitely be reading this again in the future.

My Top Two Reads

My absolute favourite reads of the month were The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes and All The Rage by Courtney Summers. Both of these books took me on never ending emotional roller coasters. I was absolutely exhausted and emotionally drained but I did not want to get off. Both of these books have been added straight to my favourites list and I know I will love and remember them for years to come.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly really opened my eyes to the extremism of life within in a cult. Although this book is fictional, I truly feel that it isn’t far from the truth. I truly felt for Minnow and her family, especially after reading the atrocities that she both witnessed and experienced.

All The Rage may have just become one of my favourite books ever. It is such a heart-breaking and emotional book. It is a story about rape and about a rape victim who is not believed. This story won’t be for everyone, but if you are able to read it then I would highly recommend it. I think it may be one of the most poignant and important stories I have ever read.

Looking Ahead…

I have a few books planned for February. I am super excited for the release of Glass Sword, I really loved Red Queen and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the sequel.
