I did have very high hopes for August but I didn’t end up reading as much as I expected considering I had the whole month off. I did spend a few days away in London though and various visits to cuddle the three little babies that entered my special friends lives this last two months. It’s been a really lovely holiday break.

My Top Reads
August had so many great reads for me. I absolutely fell in love with Nevernight by Jay Kristoff and I cannot recommend this highly enough for lovers of high fantasy. It really is fantastic! I also loved the nostalgia filled journey that was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I know and understand that lots of people have had issues with this addition to the wizarding world, but if you take this for what it is and just enjoy it then I think it’s a winner. Still Alice was a really heart wrenching read that I absolutely loved. It made me cry, in fact, it broke my heart, but it was beautiful. Poignant and thought provoking.
Looking Ahead…
Tomorrow I am going back to work! Term time begins and I’m sad to be saying goodbye to the summer. I’m looking forward to reuniting with many of my work friends, but the back to work anxiety this evening is not nice. I love my job but it’s so life consuming that I always get this bit of anxiety before going back. In the bookish future, I sense the end of Winter as I only have 300 pages left (I agree that this is the length of a novel itself, but in a book that’s 800+ pages this is quite a feat!). Then it will be on to some more books from my shelves. I’m super excited for the release of Crooked Kingdom! What September releases are you excited for?
How was your month? Did you read any of the same books as me? Do you have any recommendations for the autumn?

I love Ariel! So glad you enjoyed it 😊 I’m currently reading Nevernight and am loving it too.
I hope your return to work goes well!! I know how horrible anxiety can be. ♥

Boo to going back to work! Looks like you really enjoyed the books you read this month for the most part. Your love for Nevernight has really given me the itch to read it… Maybe before the end of the year. You have also made me curious about Still Alice.
