Sunday Summary: 15.01.17

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great week. I’ve decided to change up my weekly wrap ups from last year in exchange for my ‘Sunday Summary’ (this title struck me last night and wouldn’t leave so it’s staying for good now!). My aim is to post this every Sunday but it maybe fortnightly, we shall see!

In short, the Sunday Summary is my reflection on the previous week. It includes the books I am reading/recently read, books I have added to my shelves/TBR, blog posts from the week, challenge updates and any other news from the Kelly-verse and also my ‘Book of the Week’.

bookish-updates

Three Dark Crowns  Wing Jones  1984

My current read is Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. This has been on my shelves for WAY too long but I finally got around to it. Despite feeling a little apprehensive due to seeing a mixed bag of reviews, I’m really enjoying this. I only have 60 pages left so I fully expect to finish this today! Wing Jones by Katherine Webber is a book I recently read, reviewed and loved. I definitely recommend you check this book out. My next read will be 1984 by George Orwell, another book that has been on my TBR for 5 million years (or so it feels).

recently-added

The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters  We Come Apart

This week I was approved for copies of both The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters by Nadiya Hussain and We Come Apart by Sarah Crossan/Brian Conoghan on Netgalley. I’m looking forward to reading both of these!

We Are Okay  When Dimple Met Rishi  Queens of Geek

I didn’t buy any books this week (go me!!) so I wanted to share with you some books I added to my TBR. They are all 2017 releases and I am so excited for them! Click the covers to find out more!

challenge-updates

You may have seen my post yesterday about the 2017 challenges I am taking part in, but if you missed it you can check out all of my challenges here. I take part in lots of mini challenges on Goodreads so I will just be posting updates to my main challenges here. Click the links to visit individual challenge pages.

book-of-the-week

Wing Jones

There is a VERY good chance that this book is going to feature on a lot of TTT and other posts this year. absolutely adored this book and Katherine Webber is also simply lovely. This books tells the story of Wing Jones, a young girl who finds her feet and learns how to fly when faced with a very difficult situation. Check out my full review here and find more information about the book.

on-the-blog

One of my goals this year was to stick to a blog schedule and post multiple times a week. So far in 2017 I’ve stuck to this like a T. Although I know there will be times I may not be able to, I’m super pleased with it so far. Here are my posts from the last week!

in-other-news

I’ve been poorly this week and for the first time in 4 years I actually took time off work to look after myself. I’m still not quite 100% but I’ll be back in the classroom tomorrow and a part of me is looking forward to it.

I’m really looking forward to a couple of bookish events I have bought tickets for this weekend. Both of the events have Katherine Webber (author of Wing Jones) and I’m super excited to meet her. The first is actually in my home town (this NEVER happens) and Alwyn Hamilton will also be there. I then couldn’t resist treting myself to a London trip over half term to see Katherine Webber and Stephanie Garber (author of Caraval) in another panel. I’ll stay in London over night and probably spend most of my free time there in Waterstones – I could live in Waterstones Piccadilly!

  1. I’m so glad that you took time of work to take care of yourself. I know it’s hard to do sometimes, but it’s important to do so!

I’m planning to go to a Caraval book launching event at the end of the month. Stephanie Garber is from my area, so I’ll get my book signed at the event. Thanks for the recommendation!

  2. Ooh, this is so cool! I would totally do this if I hadn’t filled up my Sunday’s with planned posts. 🙈

But this week, I talked about all the books I haven’t yet read, made two reviews – one for Gemina and one for Boy Robot, did my WWW Wednesday, and did a Book Blogger Test Tag. 😄
