Thanks to the lovely Sam who hosts this meme at Taking On A World of Words. This is a weekly meme where I answer the three W’s of reading: What are you currently reading? What have you just finished reading? What will you read next?
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading two books: one physical and one through audio. I’m still listening to the Sara Millican book, I don’t often listen to them so it does take me a while but I am still thoroughly enjoying. I’m also currently reading Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed which was released yesterday! I’m enjoying this so far but can sense that something tense is about to happen!
What did you recently finish reading?
I finished reading The Truth and Lies of Ella Black by Emily Barr a few days ago. I liked it but not as much as Barr’s previous YA novel. This had a dark edge to it but I would have liked some of that to be delved into a bit more. Whilst I really liked the characters, many of the things that happened just seemed to unrealistic for me. My review is coming soon!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have a few options for my next read, it depends how I feel when I finish my current book. Here are a couple of my options!
What have you been reading this week?
Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned?
Follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Bloglovin’ or Goodreads. Comments are always warmly welcome.
I totally agree with you about The Truth and Lies of Ella Black – it had much more to explore in it. Flora Banks was such a good book that this one had to be something fantastic to live up to the expectation and unfortunately it just missed the mark! I reviewed it recently, looking forward to seeing more of what you think on it when yours is up! 🙂 https://snailycanflyy.wordpress.com/2018/01/05/thetruthandliesofellablack/
Also, thanks for helping me to discover this tag! It was such fun to do 😀

I’m intrigued by The Truth and Lies of Ella Black but your comments are not the only ones I’ve read along these lines. I loved Flora Banks so…mmm…not sure!

I really enjoyed How to be Champion so I hope you continue to enjoy listening to it. I liked the mix of humour and honesty in the book. I’ve got The Truth and Lies of Ella Black on my TBR and hope to get to it soon, it’s a shame that you didn’t enjoy it as much as her previous YA book though. Have you read her other fiction? I really enjoy her books.
Hope you enjoy your reading in the coming week! 🙂

I haven’t read any of her other fiction, do you recommend? I’m really loving How to be Champion – it has really given me some things to think about whilst staying light hearted too. Loving it!
