And so January finally came to an end! Not that it was a bad month for me, aside from being very poorly for the first two weeks, it has actually been a much better month for me than the last few of 2017! I had a pretty productive reading month and also got my blogging mojo back as well as keeping on top of adjusting to new work routines. Here’s how I got on in January!
Number of Books read: 10
Number of Pages read: 3,118 pages
I read so many really excellent books in January! Quite a lot of them are 2018 releases but I did manage two books from my backlist too. I was also lucky to read quite a few of these pre-publication – something I always really cherish! My ratings are below, links either lead you to my own review or the Goodreads page if I am yet to post my full review to the blog!
- Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu – ★★★ .5
- Everless by Sara Holland – ★★★★★
- Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton – ★★★★★
- Final 7 by Kerry Drewery – ★★★★★
- The Truth and Lies of Ella Black by Emily Barr – ★★ .5
- Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed – ★★★★
- How to be Champion by Sarah Millican – ★★★★★
- Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu – ★★★★★
- Sam Wu is Not Afraid of Ghosts by Katie & Kevin Tsang – ★★★★★
- I Am Thunder by Muhammad Khan – ★★★★
Ah, this was tricky as I read some really excellent books this month but my heart and head both told me I absolutely had to pick Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton. This is the third and final book in the Rebel of the Sands trilogy and I just love this series so much and know it is one I will reread in future. Hero at the Fall is the perfect ending to this trilogy. It is exhilarating, exciting and an absolute emotional roller coaster. It made me laugh and cry and I will definitely miss this wonderful host of characters. My full, gushing review can be read here.
If you read my 2018 Goals and Challenges post you will know that I am once again completing a Goodreads goal as well as completing some other challenges. I’m not going to update every single one here so if you want to see my progress in all of them then check out this page!

I am currently midway through transitioning into my new role at work. The role will be temporary for a year as I cover someone’s maternity but it’s for the job I have always wanted to do and I can’t believe I’m getting the opportunity only 6 years into my career. It is very overwhelming and it involves a LOT of change but I am enjoying it so far!
I also got nominated for a UKYA Blogger Award this month which I am so, so grateful for. I still can’t believe someone even nominated me, let alone that I reached the long list and then the shortlist too! Thank you so much if you were someone who nominated me, it means the world!
This year on the blog you will hopefully see more and more posts from me. I plan to blog more regularly about my bullet journal and also to post unboxings for my subscription boxes and monthly book hauls. Look out for a few of those over the next week or so!
I hope you all had a lovely January and that February treats you wonderfully! ❤

I’m so excited to read Moxie I know I’m going to love it and everyone I know loves it, I’ve just been slack and have bought it yet! Congrats on the job op, I hope it all goes really well 😀

The only book we’ve both read is Batman (which I really enjoyed, much to my surprise!). Battle of the Beetles, which I found early in a bookshop and snapped straight up, was a favourite, as were Under Rose Tainted Skies and the Nowhere Emporium.
