January Book Haul!

Header

Hi everyone! Today I’m here to share the books that I hauled in January. If you follow me on Twitter then you will definitely have seen me Tweet about a few of these. I somehow managed to get to the end of January without buying a single book – it wasn’t intentional but spending the first half ill and the other half getting my head around my new role in work meant that I didn’t have the time or energy to go book shopping. That will change in February, I’m sure!

However, I am super lucky because I still received some really gorgeous book post in January and I’m really grateful to the lovely publishers and publicists that have sent me these books. It still amazes me now that anyone wants to send me books for free and I feel super honoured every time it happens!

The super lovely Siobhan from Egmont sent me these two gorgeous books. I had requested Sam Wu is Not Afraid of Ghosts by Katie & Kevin Tsang quite some time ago so was really delighted that I was sent a copy. It is such a fun read and the illustrations are also gorgeous – look out for this one which is releasing on Thursday! Siobhan also sent me a copy of Secrets of a Teenage Heiress by Katy Birchall. I’ve not read this yet but it certainly looks fun!

I also received two books this month from the lovely Bea at MacMillan Children’s Books. I was lucky enough to be sent a proof of Goodbye, Perfect by Sara Barnard last year and I absolutely fell in love with it so you can only imagine how much I squealed when I saw that she had sent me a finished copy too. It’s so shiny and beautiful – this book is also out on Thursday, make sure you grab yourselves a copy! Bea also sent me a proof of Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi which is releasing in March. I’m hearing buzz about this book constantly on social media so I’m excited to check it out for myself! Saving this one for half term so I can lose myself in it completely!

The lovely Lydia from Titan Books sent me a gorgeous finished copy (with red sprayed edges!) of Spare and Found Parts by Sarah Maria Griffin. This book is out on Tuesday and I’m planning on diving into it today. I’ll be hosting a giveaway for two copies of this book so keep an eye on my Twitter later on this week!

The lovely folk at Usborne sent me a proof of Orphan Monster Spy by Matt Killeen. I’ve not read this yet but it sounds brilliant and that cover is so gorgeous! I’ve also just received a beautiful finished copy from them so you may see a giveaway coming soon!

Next up I received my copy of the anthology On Anxiety which has been crowd funded and published by 3 of Cups. I am so proud to have supported this anthology and grateful to Lizzie and co for making it happen. Find out more about it here.

Next up is a book that I was offered for review by Penguin Books. I don’t read a lot of non-fiction but I do admire Ruby Wax and some of her previous writing so I was intrigued by How To Be Human: The Manual and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like.

Last but not least, Eve from Simon & Schuster asked if I would like to receive a copy of the upcoming Gayle Forman title I Have Lost My Way. This will be my first time reading a Gayle Forman book but I always hear wonderful things about her books so I’m looking forward to diving in. This one looks like it could be a quick read!

Woops… I did request a few new titles this month and fell into that pit BUT (hear me out…) these are mainly books that are being published into the future and are some of the 2018 releases I have heard the BEST things about. Plus my rating has been excellent and I’ve read 6 NG titles in recent weeks. Have I done enough to justify it yet?

To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo | Big Bones by Laura Dockrill | Savage Island by Bryony Pearce | She, Myself and I by Emma Young | The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X. R. Pan | The List of Real Things by Sarah Moore Fitzgerald | Misogynation by Laura Bates | Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

And there we have it! A huge number of gorgeous books being added to that never ending TBR of mine. At least some of these I have read by now… she says!

What books did you add to your shelves in January?

Did we haul any of the same books? Have you read any of these yet?
