Hi everyone! Today I’m back with the second instalment of my Fandom Frenzy blog series. Today we have the lovely Amy from Golden Books Girls joining us. If you don’t already follow Amy then please do, she posts so much wonderful content and I always find great MG recs on her blog too.
What fictional world would you most like to find yourself in?
Being a bit of an overthinker in general, this was a question I pondered for rather a while before deciding on an answer, which I’ve used every time I’m asked this since. I’d go to sweet, safe Stoneybrook from the Babysitters Club books by Ann M Martin. Might not be a wild adventure, but I feel like I know it already and I’d love to be part of it.
Which characters in that world would you choose to be your closest allies? Why?
Ooh this is hard! I’d probably get on best with Claudia and Mary Anne.
Which characters do you think would be your enemies? (This doesn’t have to be the ‘canon’ villain!)
The whiny and immature Jessi and Mallory, and stuck up, snobby Stacey, who are the only members of the BSC itself I don’t like. I don’t think I’d like any of the canon villains much either though, Cokie Mason sounds like a right pain! And I very, very definitely wouldn’t want to bump into any of the mysteries.
How do you think you would cope walking in the shoes of that fandom’s protagonist?
Well, each book rotates protagonist, so I’ll put a bit of a spin on this and tell you whose life I’d most like to lead, which is Mary Anne. She lives with her dad, who’s a bit overbearing but lovely, and her stepmum, who’s also really nice, and a very cute cat called Tigger. Plus, she likes books and is quite calm and gentle, so I think it’d be great to live in her shoes.
Which part of the story would you most like to try and change as the new protagonist? (Try and keep it spoiler free!)
I’m going to imagine I’m in one of club chairman Kristy’s books for a minute now, and my first order of business at a meeting would be to get rid of aforementioned Jessi, Mallory and Stacey. As Mary Anne, I’d want to change the fact that her mum died.
BONUS: Which fictional world wouldn’t you like to find yourself waking up in? Why?
I’d say anywhere unsafe or dangerous really. I’d particularly dislike any dystopia or horror, especially something like the Hunger Games.
I’ve never even heard of these books so I was really pleased to see Amy picking something that’s new to me! I think I would have loved these books as a young girl, I was always a huge Enid Blyton fan though! I definitely wouldn’t do well if I was put into a dystopian or horror world – I’d be the first to go!

I loved the BSC books growing up. Mary Anne was my favourite too and I also didn’t care for Jessi and Mallory much either.
