Hi everyone! Next up to face my #FandomFrenzy challenge is Steph from A Little But A Lot. Steph is an absolute diamond of a person. Not only is she a fantastic blogger and teacher-to-be but she is one of my absolute best friends. In fact, as this post is published I am on a train from Cardiff to Newcastle ready to see her do her thing at an event with Melinda Salisbury and Alice Broadway tonight! After a few days in Newcastle we are heading to London for a bookish weekend. This is my first time up North and I am so excited, so this felt like the right time to share Steph’s Fandom Frenzy post!
If you are already familiar with Steph and her blog (go you!) you will know that she is a huuuuuge fan of Melinda Salisbury and it will come as no surprise to you to discover she is jumping into one of Mel’s worlds!
What fictional world would you most like to find yourself in?
I think I’d love to find myself in any world that Melinda Salisbury has written. In particular the world of The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy. They’re brilliantly crafted and beautiful – with darkness and evilness in abundance.
Which characters in that world would you choose to be your closest allies? Why?
I mean, I would be a fool to say that I wouldn’t want Twylla to be my closest ally because I love her a lot. She’s one of my favourite characters in everything. Her sheer brilliance, badass and bold nature are everything I am not. I’d love to be her best friend. To be honest, I’d just like to BE Twylla.
Which characters do you think would be your enemies? (This doesn’t have to be the ‘canon’ villain!)
Oh man. The Queen. So much. There’s some brilliant baddies in The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy that they’d ALL be my enemies. I’m all for a good hero me.
How do you think you would cope walking in the shoes of that fandom’s protagonist?
Not well. I don’t think I would be as brilliant as Twylla. She deals with things brilliantly. She becomes this incredible force to be reckoned with by book 3 and I can guarantee I would NOT do well. I’d like to think I could stand up to people like she does, but alas, I do not think I would.
Which part of the story would you most like to try and change as the new protagonist? (Try and keep it spoiler free!)
Ooooooooooooh. Now. I don’t know? I think Twylla has a pretty magnificent arc throughout the books and she needs to make all the mistakes and go through all of the trials she does in order to flourish as much as she does. I’d like to think I wouldn’t make as many mistakes with men as she does, but I probably would AND MORE.
BONUS: Which fictional world wouldn’t you like to find yourself waking up in? Why?
I think any kind of dystopian world. As much as I LOVE reading them, I think I would be SO INCREDIBLY TERRIBLE at surviving in any kind of dystopian world.
Ah Steph! I adored The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy and knew you would pick this! Twylla is such an incredible protagonist but I definitely couldn’t cope in her shoes. I think you’d be better than me at doing it!
