My Rating: ★★★★1/2

This movie is nothing short of absolutely hilarious. It is one of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in quite a while. As well as a good mix of action scenes, I spent the majority of the movie laughing out loud in the cinema, along with the other viewers.

I had been looking forward to seeing Deadpool for a while. I had seen a huge amount of the promotional work that Ryan Reynolds had been doing, including plenty of hilarious video clips and interviews. It was really clear to me how much he loves the movies, so I was looking forward to seeing it.

This is far from the stereotypical action hero movie. There are plenty of action scenes, huge amounts of special effects and plenty of bad guys involved. In that respect, it reminded me of your expected Marvel movie. On the other hand, the humour was what really got me in this one. Being British, I have a very dry sense of humour. We love sarcasm and a good old dirty pun and Deadpool is full of them. I will warn you that almost every joke in this movie is inappropriate, but if you’ve got a good sense of humour and are not easily offended then it’s fantastic. Quick, witty and very well executed by Reynolds.

There are a lot of sex scenes in this movie too (hence the rating!). We’re not exposed to anything Fifty Shades style, but there are lots of sexual references and a few love scenes between the two main characters. There’s a running theme of romance underlying the action and hilarity of this movie, so there really is something for everyone!

My favourite thing about the movie was definitely the humour, especially the references to X-Men/Wolverine and Hugh Jackman. I can totally understand why Ryan Reynolds has been so passionately promoting this. This was a great movie which had my cheeks aching with laughter.
