July: A Bookish Reflection

July was a great month, I read a solid number of books and I broke up for the summer. 6 whole weeks off is absolute bliss and I’ve already been making the most of it!

Number of Books read: 8

Number of Pages read: 2,862

False Hearts (False Hearts, #1)  The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events #1)  This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1)  All Is Not Forgotten

Wild: A Journey from Lost to Found  Summer Days & Summer Nights  Persepolis I & II  A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic, #2)

A quick overview of my ratings is listed below. Book covers link to the Goodreads page for each book, the titles below will lead you either to the review on my blog or Goodreads review if I’ve not yet posted it here. (I’ve been behind on actually posting my reviews here so most of these will go up in August!)

My Top Reads

Well it is safe to say that Victoria Schwab has firmly cemented her place in my bookish heart forever and ever. This month I read both This Savage Song and A Gathering of Shadows and both of them absolutely blew me away. I don’t know if it is simply Schwab’s beautiful writing style which captures me or if it’s the world building, the phenomenal characterisation, I just do not know. What I do know, is that I am currently in love with anything this wonderful woman writes. Both of these books have won themselves a spot on my favourites shelf and I can’t imagine them leaving any time soon. Fantastic!

Looking Ahead…

I am currently on holiday from work! August 1st marks the fact that I still have 1 whole month of freedom ahead of me. I think I’m going to mark this celebration with a shopping trip! I keep telling myself I must stop buying books, but it’s like an affliction. I cannot help it!! I’m going to London for a few days this month and also have a few other amazing things happening which I’m feeling super happy about!

How was your month? Did you read any of the same books as me? Do you have any recommendations for the summer?

  2. Congrats on a great reading month!!! The fact you read 2 Schwab books in July has me very jealous!! I had to put AGOS on hold while I am reading books by authors attending a book festival in October… I may just have to sneak it in anyways 😂 Can’t wait to see what you get accomplished in August!
