Hi everyone! A REALLY slow reading week this week, work has been pretty crazy and I’ve been absolutely exhausted so I’ve not been able to focus as much on reading. I’m 1 book off my September goal though so I’m pretty sure I’ll reach it!
I spent this week chipping away at Invictus by Ryan Graudin. This is the first book of Ryan’s that I’ve read and I really, really enjoyed it. This is a timey-wimey kinda book and I appear to have enjoyed these recently. Something I really liked about this book was the historical elements threaded through it.
My book ban is going STRONG!! I still haven’t bought a book this month!! Woo – go me!! I did receive lovely book post this week though, including three books I pre-ordered quite a while ago and I’m so pleased to finally have them in my possession!
I picked up my pre-order of The Language of Thorns by the fantastic Leigh Bardugo at the beginning of the week and let me tell you that this book is GORGEOUS! I’ve been looking forward to this book since the moment it was announced!! I was lucky to get a signed edition and I’ve already enjoyed flicking through the artwork in here. I think this will be my next read!
Next up was some gorgeous book post from Beth at Penguin Random House UK who sent me this beautiful package to celebrate the release of Nyxia by Scott Reintgen. I’ve not read this yet but it looks SO gorgeous and I’m having a lot of luck with space books at the moment so I may read this soon! I also received this GORGEOUS necklace with the package. The necklace is from LittleWrenUK and if you fancy one of your own you can get 10% off your own purchase (over £10) until the end of October with the code LWNYXIA10.
The lovely Harriet from Anderson Press sent me this creepy read and it sounds perfect for an October read! I’m saving a few creepy reads for next month and this one will be on the list!
My pre-order of One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake arrived too and I LOVE this cover and the colour of the spine. I really enjoyed Three Dark Crowns when I read it earlier this year so I want to read this one soon!
My final piece of book post this week was another pre-order and it’s the stunning A Skinful of Shadows by Frances Hardinge. This book is BEAUTIFUL. Look at those stunning green sprayed edges, as well as that lush cover. I’ve heard brilliant things about this book so can’t wait to read it soon!

As with many of us I have rather a backlog of eARCs on NetGalley from those good old first days when you binge request assuming you won’t be accepted but then I was. I’m working on getting my rating up (it is SO low – woops!) and this week I posted 3 reviews over on NG so I was pleased to see my rating go up 3% – every little counts, right?
I’ve received some super exciting book related emails this week and I’m SO excited about them. One of them even made me SQUEAL out loud!
Have a wonderful week! ❤

Sorry your work has been hectic 😔 but ALL THE YAY for exciting bookish emails 😁
I’m considering reading Invictus as I recently watched a sci-fi I thoroughly enjoyed (which has never happened before. I was invested in Sunshine cause of Capa, but it all got a bit… odd).
This week I’ve read The Summer of Telling Tales, The Disappearances, Alex Sparrow and the Really Big Stink and then reread Am I Normal Yet. I’m currently reading TrulyMadly Awkward by Beth Garrod 😊
I’ve written a book haul post (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/19/my-smashing-september-book-haul/), had an author interview with Ruth Lauren (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/21/author-interview-ruth-lauren/) and then yesterday I did the Harry Potter Tag, which was super fun (https://goldenbooksgirl.wordpress.com/2017/09/23/the-harry-potter-tag/)
Hope you’re having a fab weekend off ❤
