OWLs Readathon: TBR

OWLS 2019.png

Well hello there! It has been a very long time since I blogged due to various personal reasons and needing time for myself. But this month I plan to take part in the OWLs readathon which I thoroughly enjoyed last year so I thought I’d share my TBR here.

The readathon is again being hosted by the wonderful Book Roast. As well as trying to complete our OWLs, this time around there is an amazing Careers guide to choose a career. This then helps to form your TBR as you need certain subjects at OWL and NEWT to obtain that career. I wanted to do all the careers but thought I’d start this year with the most obvious choice for me: Hogwarts Professor. I’ve decided tentatively that I will be going down the route of being a Transfiguration Professor.

You can find out all about the readathon in the announcement video here.

– TBR –

In order to become a Hogwarts Professor, I have to complete 7 OWLS which must include the subject you wish to teach (Transfiguration), Defence Against the Dark Arts and 5 other subjects. Here are the subjects and books I’ll be tackling this month!

In case I finish all of my ‘must read’ books, then I’ll work my way through the rest of the OWL subjects so I’ve made some tentative choices for those below.

  • Ancient Runes (retelling) – A Curse So Dark and Lonely
  • Astronomy (‘star’ in title) – Chasing the Stars
  • Arithmancy (Written by 2+ authors) – Proud Anthology
  • Herbology (plant on cover) – In Bloom
  • History of Magic (published 10+ years ago) – The Chosen One

I have 2 weeks of April off work so I’m hoping to at least read my 7 career books.

Let me know if you’re taking part 🙂

  1. Good luck with your TBR! I’m strudying to become a magizoologist. If I can I’ll also try to complete all the OWLs, but I just made a main TBR and we’ll see where it goes. We have a full month so there will probably be some time for more.
